The SuperSki region
The Hochkönig Ski Region
(800m - 2000m)Still little known by the British Ski & Snowboard fraternity, AustriaSuperSki is proud to be located in the picture postcard resort of Maria Alm and the skiing district of the Hochkönig . Hochkönig means "High King" and is the name of the 3000m peak mountain which dominates the skyline. Equally friendly to the skier and snowboarder alike, this beautiful area offers some of the best skiing in Austria and covers a huge 150km's of piste stretching through five valleys. Each valley has its own unprecedented snow-parks (five in total) and an enormous back country. As soon as you arrive it will be clear to see why so many Europeans come back here every year (the resort is so popular that peak times can become fully booked up to a year in advance)!
The immaculately groomed slopes are suitable for the total beginner through to the thrill seeking expert, this family friendly area is well known for its breathtaking scenery. It’s already amazing snow record is enhanced by over 300 snow-making machines to ensure there are good piste conditions throughout the season. Given what an extensive skiing and snowboarding area this is, the slopes are surprisingly quiet throughout the season which means very little, if any, queuing at the lifts! An abundance of mountain restaurants and bars spread throughout the valleys ensure you will never be too far from a Gluhwein or an Apple Strudel to sit back, relax, and understand why many describe Maria Alm as a fairytale resort.
